Exporting is a convenient way to transfer PDF documents and corresponding external metadata to another database system without having to use the source and target database systems export/import processes. The export will create a folder that contains each exported PDF named [<ID>]<Title>.PDF and corresponding external metadata file [<ID>]<Title>.XML that contains the Notes, Category, and Flag state stored in the database for that document. All exported files will be organized in sub-folders by Author and Subject.
When the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords in the exported PDF do not match the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords in the database for that document, the PDF will be rewritten with the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords from the database.
When exporting documents for transfer to another system, it is highly recommended that nobody else be logged into PDFKeeper.
To import the folder containing the exported PDF documents and corresponding external metadata, first make sure PDFKeeper is closed, then copy the entire folder using Windows Explorer into the root of C:\<User>\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Robert F. Frasca\PDFKeeper\Upload. Do not copy the folder into an upload profile folder inside of C:\<User>\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Robert F. Frasca\PDFKeeper\Upload. After the folder has been copied, login to PDFKeeper using the configured database system that the PDF documents and external metadata need to be imported into, and PDFKeeper will then perform the import during the next upload cycle.
